East Village, Before the Gentry

Incredible slide show on featuring the work of Q. Sakamaki, a Japanese photographer living in New York, who "has forged a reputation as a documentarian of conflict and suffering." His new book, “Tompkins Square Park,” returns to his early days in New York and documents the community around Tompkins Square Park in the 1980s.
