Algebra Blessett
I was turned on to Algebra Blessett by a friend of mine at Spelman College in Atlanta, Algebra's hometown. With this being said, outside of the A, this woman is relatively unknown but that won't last for long. Having worked with artists such as Bilal and Monica, Blessett has also played some of the world's most revered stages including Brixton Academy in London, the 930 Club in DC, House of Blues in Chicago and most recently at "Passion & Poetry 2007" in Atlanta, all to rave reviews. Her music is some of the most soulful work I've heard since I first copped Who Is Jill Scott? and after I heard "What Happened" I searched all over for more. All I could find were six tracks under the EP title of Herb Powers Master... bangin' music, but I am eager to hear more. As Algebra explains on her MySpace page, "I didn't have to change my name for the sake of art... I am art... it came with me."
Algebra's style is tough to describe as she hits everything from crunk to neo-soul, but check out this track "What Happened" on which she worked with award-winning songwriter and producer Brian Michael Cox.
What Happened - Algebra Blessett
"Nothing to Prove" is her top song on MySpace, and its lyrics say she "may not be the girl you are used to." This may be true, but get familiar... she's the truth.

For the Go-Go Folks...
Chuck Brown, for those of you not familiar with the D.C. area, is the "Godfather of Go-Go" and has been around since the 1960's. He helped create the genre and has influenced every single Go-Go act since. I was in D.C. this weekend and found out that he has a new album coming out, called We're About The Business, his first Go-Go album of primarily original material in over two decades. The man is 72, but he has a bangin new single featuring the vocals of his daughter KK. This track is HOT on the radio in DC, but I doubt anybody outside the listening range of WPGC 95.5 has heard it.

Mario's New Single
I've had "Kryptonite" for a few days now, and it's definitely grown on me. Mario has remained constant since his young days of "Just A Friend". It's tough for many singers to make the transition from teen sensation to being taken seriously by an adult audience, but I think Mario has accomplished this. While I'm at it, I never thought Rich Boy would last this long... but he holds his own on this track. Solid first single for Mario.

Gorilla Zoe
Zoe has the city going nuts right now, especially with his first single "Hood Nigga". He's also bringing back a Jeezyless Boyz N da Hood from the grave and they sound better than ever. Zoe is also featured on Yung Joc's first single off of his upcoming album.

In the spirit of Friday the 13th, we want to see you come out and "party like a ROCKSTAR" in your flyest rock & roll gear. Fellas pull out the Ed Hardy graphic tees, some fresh jeans and Vans or Chuck Taylors. Ladies come colorful! Pull out the door-knockers, vibrant lipstick, tights, heels and hoodies. As for the hair, we want to see some designs in a fresh cut or even some mohawks on the females. In the vain of Kelis and Pharrell, we want to see you dress like a ROCKSTAR...
Dress code will be strictly enforced. ROCKSTARS are guaranteed to have the best time.
REMEMBER: GET THERE EARLY!!!
Our last two parties have seen lines down the street. Get there early to avoid the long wait. We will get you in as quickly as possible, but as usual we are expecting capacity.
ONE THING WE LEFT OUT...
WE WILL BE ROCKIN' TILL 4 IN THE MORNING!!! Everyone knows the club doesn't fill up until around 11PM anyway, so decided to push it back. If you are coming from UNC's Kappa Ball, bring your ticket and you are in for $5 until 3AM!!!

Video: We Takin' Over - DJ Khaled
"The summers bout to get hot..." I like some of the flashback images from Biggie's "Hypnotize" video, like runnin from the feds down the freeway with the car in reverse and takin the chase to the water. This is that type of video made for the summer, so we'll probably be sick of it by the end of May, but for now it's hot! One thing though, what the hell is Fat Joe wearing?

Video: Flaws And All - Beyoncé
I usually don't do this, okay I'm lying. Beyoncé has become played out to me lately. She's beautiful, she has a great voice, but the game has been so saturated with her image over the last year I just really had started to get bored with her. Her singles have been either bitter or materialistic or both. However, she's re-released her album B'Day with new material and new videos, including this track "Flaws And All".
Flaws And All - Beyoncé
This video has me back thinking she is the "hottest chick in the game" and her throwin up the dynasty sign at the end suggests that all is well with hip-hop's king and queen. Props to HM.
